Sweet Tea Glazed Donuts

Sweet Tea Glazed Donuts

Sweet tea glazed donuts are a delicious and unique variation of traditional glazed donuts that are flavored with sweet tea. They typically have a light and fluffy texture and a sweet glaze that is made with brewed sweet tea.

To make sweet tea glazed donuts, a dough is typically made from a mixture of flour, sugar, baking powder, milk, and eggs. The dough is rolled out and cut into donut shapes using a donut cutter or a round cookie cutter. The donuts are then fried in hot oil until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside.

While the donuts are still warm, a sweet glaze is typically made by combining powdered sugar, brewed sweet tea, and vanilla extract. The glaze is then drizzled over the top of the donuts, giving them a sweet and slightly tangy flavor.

Sweet tea glazed donuts are a delicious and unique twist on traditional glazed donuts that are popular in the Southern United States. They are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a sweet treat any time of day. They are best enjoyed with a hot cup of coffee or tea.

SERVINGS: 4 (makes 12 donuts)

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened brewed sweet tea
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsweetened brewed sweet tea
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 12-cup donut pan.
  2. For the donuts: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sweet tea, egg, and melted butter. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  3. Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cup about 2/3 full. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes before removing them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  4. For the glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, sweet tea, and vanilla extract until smooth. Dip each cooled donut into the glaze and return to the wire rack to set.
  5. For the topping: If desired, sprinkle the chopped pecans over the glaze while it is still wet. Let the glaze set for 10 minutes before serving.
